Celebrating 100 years of insulin

“One hundred years of anything is something to celebrate”

My friend Ashling said that 100 years of anything is something to celebrate a couple of months ago and she’s dead right. On January 11th, 1922, Canadian, Leonard Thompson became the first person with diabetes to be injected with insulin, making diabetes no longer a death sentence within four months and we became people LIVING with diabetes. #LeonardThompsonDay

One hundred years ago people with diabetes were given the gift of life and as we celebrate 100 years of insulin we also celebrate all that we have discovered about living with diabetes since then. And not just what we have learned about type 1 diabetes but what we have learned about all types of diabetes. Celebrating 100 years is a type ALL celebration

Here’s a very short video I created to celebrate my 29 years of insulin usage.
