We have had a very stormy February, our most recent one Storm Jorge imposed a red weather warning where I live and you know what, it was nice. Stuff got cancelled and we all had to stay indoors and I had the opportunity to watch T1D Rise of the Machines from London almost live. There were so many great presentations and discussions and I so very much appreciate being able to be in the room virtually.
It was such a great event and so much information shared. I learned so much from every single presentation. I’ve listed the agenda below and the timings on the video if you’re interested in viewing. Another thing I LOVE about technology is that I could actually feel like I was a part of the event from my own home and I didn’t have the huge expense of airfare. Without this technology I would not have had this opportunity. Thank you to all involved in the organisation of T1DRotM who made that possible.
What is T1D Rise of the Machines?
Type 1 Diabetes Rise of the Machines #T1DRotM is a one day gathering that explores technology used in type 1 diabetes management and which is becoming more widespread. It’s a collaboration between people with Diabetes, industry and NHS representatives.
There are a series of T1 Rise of the Machines events happening this year, including Belfast, (Yay! One that doesn’t require airfare for me. More on this event below). The London event was co-hosted by techUK and Professor Partha Kar, NHS England Clinical Lead in Diabetes, who showcased what is currently possible with today’s tools and what we need to do to make digital a reality for the many rather than the few.
One of the aims of the event is to give people with diabetes the opportunity to learn more about technologies that are currently available and what people with Diabetes are doing themselves to overcome the gaps.
