I remember what it was like to feel l was the only person I knew with type 1 diabetes and it was awful. I firmly believe that a support group starts when two people meet for a cuppa. I joined a local chapter of Diabetes Ireland and we started our diabetes support groups in 2007. Today, we are a group of people with diabetes of all types and ages, who engage in lively discussions and know that our most important resource is ourselves. We exchange information about where to find the health services we need and where to find the best advice. Sharing our stories and exchanging information inspires and motivates us to live well with diabetes.

We meet five times a year in Ennis, Co. Clare. If you are interested in joining us please email me and I will send you the information.

If you would like to find out if there is a diabetes support group in your area check out this page.
