Grainne Flynn, is from Ennis, Co. Clare and has lived with type 1 diabetes for 23 years. She is one of the founding members of the Clare branch of Diabetes Ireland and the Clare Diabetes Support groups. She is also a founding member of Thriveabetes, an annual Type 1 Diabetes Conference and blogs about living with type 1 diabetes BloodSugarTrampoline
Kieran Flanagan, has lived with type 1 diabetes for 21 years. Kieran is a member of the diabetes online community and founding member of the Galway

presented by Dr Esther O’Sullivan, Consultant Endocrinologist & Dr Derek O’Keeffe, Specialist Registrar in Diabetes, University Hospital Galway.insulin-pump5B15D

Dr Esther O’Sullivan is a Consultant Endocrinologist in The Galway Clinic and Consultant Physician in UHG, with a subspecialty interest in technology for Type 1 Diabetes. Her qualifications include a PhD in Islet Transplantation, research for this was carried out at Joslin Diabetes Clinic, Harvard Medical School, Boston.

Dr Derek O’Keeffe, Specialist Registrar in Diabetes at University Hospital Galway and also hold a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He was recently selected by US space agency Nasa to monitor the health of six astronauts, engineers and scientists who are due to spend three weeks in an undersea research station off the Florida coast.

Abbott Laboratories recently launched a new glucose sensor called the FreeStyle Libre, now available to buy in Ireland, and they will demonstrate the device and take questions.
